When I arrived this morning, Maeve will still under the bili-lights. She had been restless and a little fussy. The doctor came when I arrived and her bili count had gone down, so they removed the lights. I was so excited. Now she could be held and wrapped up and swaddled in a blanket. That is how she is most comfortable. The occupational therapist and physical therapist came by and fed her. She did so well. She ate more than half of what she was supposed to. Then we did another feeding just before I had to leave. She was awake and alert and was acting like a little baby is supposed to act when she's hungry. I fed her and she gobbled the whole thing. She still needs to work on breathing and eating, but a little practice will take care of that. I took a picture of her when I left. She was sleeping again and was warm and comfortable. No lights, no "eye-glasses". Plus, her IV had been taken out. She does have a tube to her stomach through her nose. They feed her the rest of her bottle that way so that she gets her nourishment. She has been doing so well. Fantastic actually. Today was a good day because she opened her eyes for a long time. She looked around and looked at me and took everything in. She was awake and alert for about an hour, including feeding. It was great to see her looking so well. I'm very encouraged by today and how she looks. She is looking great. Her skin tone is even and her facial features are smoothing out. She is starting to look very healthy. She's tan too! It was a good turn for the day and the doctor is happy at the progress she has made this day. I'm absolutely thrilled. She's beautiful and adorable and we just love her so much!
