Promised I'd Do Better.........

December is always a..........How does one describe the month of December? Busy, I guess is the best word. Ethan had a piano recital at the beginning of the month. His first one. We did a duet together for it. He did such a good job. He's really good! So proud of him. So very proud of him.
We had our Hyldahl Christmas party last night. Pizza, Santa, and new jammies! Does it get any better than that? I think not!

Trying another post.....

OK, so it's been months that I've done a post. I'm horrible at this. It's like keeping a journal and I don't do that. I'm such a lazy bum. Anyway, I just thought I'd put a little something on here......
Here's what's happened since April (in a nutshell):

Halloween, a trip to Ireland, Ethan back in school, and Ethan losing his first tooth. I swear.....I'll do better.

Happy Birthday Maeve

A pancake in the shape of a 2. I wonder how old she is.....

Here's her birthday cake. It's Elmo. She's very into Elmo. Elmo and dogs. I couldn't decide between an Elmo cake or a dog cake. Elmo won out. She also got an Elmo doll, plus a bed for her Elmo doll, a blankie for her Elmo doll. Oh, she also got some clothes. And dogs. No, not a real dog, although everyone threatened to buy her a little puppy. I was very worried about that one..... No, she just got a stuffed dog and some pictures of dogs.

She was a very happy girl that day.....

The latest.....

Isn't this the cutest picture of Maeve that you've ever seen. She's such a cute girl. She's funny and charming too. I love this picture. Had to post it.

So, Ethan finally learned how to ski. The past couple winters he resisted a bit. Wanted us to hold him all the way down (that does a number on your back), but this year he refused help and wanted to figure it out on his own. And he did. He's pretty good now. One down, another to go....

Darren and I also had a chance to go to Maui a couple weeks ago. We went with some good friends of ours from South Weber, the Johnsons. No kids allowed. Just us couples. I had a ball. I think I can speak for everyone.....we had a ball. The weather was nice and there was so much to do. We learned to paddleboard, we snorkeled, watched whales, went on a helicopter ride, went hiking, boogie boarding, etc. etc. We also went to bed when we wanted to, woke up when we wanted to. We weren't interrupted during the night by kids coming to bed and wanting to sleep in our bed. We ate when we wanted to and where we wanted to. No McDonald's, no mac-n-cheese, no whining, no messes.....it was heaven. However, I really missed my kids. Badly. I called them everyday. I know, I know, it's pretty pathetic.
Now, summer is coming. The snow is melting and they days are beautiful. We are finally getting blue skies. I'm so excited. So relieved. This was a pretty gray winter. Lots on my to-do list for this summer.

First ride of the day. So far so good.......kids are getting along......
no major lines.......no scary rides......
Lots of cool things to see......
More interesting things to see.......
Maeve can't go on all the rides so these stationary models will work for her......
I don't know about this.......
Love, love, love, love, love, love Legoland...........
Tired.........
So very tired................so very cute.
That was Legoland. We had a good time. The kids had a fantabulous time.

Winter 2010

Just wanted to add a couple pictures. Not much to say. School is back in and the holidays are over. I'm so glad. I'm not a holiday fan. However, I'm getting tired of winter and I'm starting to daydream about summer and all the things I want to do. Water skiing, kneeboarding, wind surfing, kayaking, hiking, backpacking, camping, just sitting out on my deck with ice water and feeling the sun on me. Being warm for a change. I can't wait. But one of my New Year's resolutions (one of many) was to relish the moment I'm in. So, let's see if we can find something positive about winter. I love my electric blanket. I love soup with bread. I don't like to eat soup in the summer. It's not as good. I love movies and watching a movie in the afternoon doesn't seem as wasteful in the winter as it does in the summer. OK, that's a decent attempt at a positive attitude towards winter. I'll stop now before I actually become amicable towards winter.

Happy New Year

We're going to do what? Run a 5K? Where? Outside in the snow and cold?? When? At 11:30 at night?? Are we crazy? Yes, we are. This is a picture of us right before our run. Every New Year's for the past 6 years, my dad and I run a 'Beat the New Year 5K'. My friends, Patty and Kevin decided to join us this year. In the 6 years we've done it, I've only beat the New Year once. 28 minutes. Needless to say, that wasn't this year. I decline to give my actual time this year. Unimportant. It's on a need-to-know basis only. You don't need to know. Moving on......

This is us after the run. We're all smiling. I guess that's a good sign. Well, Kevin's not smiling. He's gloating. He got in at 23 minutes. Rubbing it in and all......
Anyway, Happy New Year to everyone. I wish everyone to perseverance and will power to accomplish their New Year's resolutions........or at least through the month of January.
